FAQ
Can I just be a chapter, just me? Or do I need a group of people to make a club?
We encourage you to find some friends. Like we said, the collective voice is always stronger than just one, and LiNK Chapters are all about spreading awareness. Why not start now? Tell your friends stories of the refugee and human rights crisis in North Korea and get them involved! Your voice and story of how you discovered this crisis is powerful and we believe in you.
Are LiNK Chapters just for high schools and colleges?
No way! Student chapters are often easier to form and maintain because of forced proximity and similar interests (remember campus life?). But the North Korean story is one that transcends all situations, which means anyone and everyone should be involved. Get your friends and co-workers, share the stories you learned about North Korea, and start meeting at your local coffee shop or apartment. Be creative about how you'll get the word out there. Don't be afraid of trying something new.
We've shown your films like a thousand times. Can we do a fundraiser or something?
Hence the dual nature of LiNK Chapters! The Chapter program and funds raised through your efforts help sustain our programs and underground activities. LiNK exists not only to make others aware of the North Korea crisis but also to provide a way out for North Koreans. Learn more about our resettlement transition program here.
We're fresh out of ideas. We've done a cookie sale, a brownie sale, a fruit sale. What other fundraisers can we do?
Ah, the torturous world of fundraising. We feel your pain, really we do. So here's a suggestion... don't do anything ordinary. Want to do a car wash? Scratch that. Do a photo exhibit/crumb trail instead. Want to write a journal entry about how affected you are by North Korea? Cool. But ask to write a feature in your school newspaper as well. Like to sing? Find a way to bring American Idol to your school. Don't be afraid to charge admission. Remind people it's going to a great cause.
The point? Be creative. Always think outside the box. Still stuck? LiNK will soon be launching a feauture where you can read and share your fundraising ideas. Sharing is caring.
